My Precious - Valentine

My Dear Friends of the Inspiration Circle,

I sincerely hope that the first month of the new year have brought blessings to each and every one of you. Thank you all for your kind words of encouragement. It continues to be a trying season for me. But February is now here - and I cannot escape from the fact that many across the world celebrate this month as the month to cherish those whom they love as Valentine's Day is just around the corner.

These last few months have brought me to realize how precious this thing we call love - and how fragile. And as I began to fathom the meaning of "agape" - the unconditional love - through the presence of my daughter, Keshia Evangeline, I also realized my own shortcomings. At the end of the day, I wonder, "What is love, anyway?" - and I have come to the conclusion that love is nothing but a commitment....a commitment to continue to care for another: a fellow human being, a pet, a vision, even a dream, despite circumstances and situations...sometimes even beyond reason. As such it is an act of will, never a simple fleeting of emotion.

I also begin to believe that love can indeed be captured through our lenses. And maybe it is through this divine opportunity that we've been privileged to have - this pseudo-supernatural power that we all have to command the shutters of our photographic equipments to freeze moments in time out of its continuum - that we should continue to remind ourselves what matters most. Because as I gaze upon this playful moment in time with my daughter (depicted here on this post), I realize that there is nothing that can separate me from loving her. A gift. A precious gift that I am willing to commit my life to, even to the point of death. Love. Commitment.

So as Valentine's Day is around the corner, my dear AM3 friends, here's wishing you a memorable season of love as you celebrate those whom you love in your lives, and to once again recommit to being there for them no matter the circumstances.

It may take some time for me to return your visit, but I surely will. B-)

Cheers'nBlessings,
{H}

p.s. This "self-portrait" of Keshia and I was taken using Keshia's first real digital camera that I bought for her 4th birthday, a Canon A560, using the classical "extend-one-hand-as-a-midair-tripod-while-the-camera-lens-faces-you" maneuver. B-)
